Ajax Welcomes The Return Of 'the Prodigal Son' Ryan Babel

JAKARTA - Ryan Babel 'returns to his hometown' to the Eredivisie club, Ajax Amsterdam. The veteran Dutch striker returns to the team that made him big on loan from Galatasaray until the end of the 2019-2020 season.

Ajax announced the confirmed increase in their ammunition through their official account on Sunday, January 12 in the morning. His arrival at the Johan Crujff Arena will be the third time for the former Liverpool player.

Before deciding to return to Ajax, Newcastle United wanted to sign Babel. It has even been widely reported that the opportunity to return to England is wide open.

According to Turkish media via Soccerway, the reason Galatasaray lent the former Dutch national player is because Galatasaray already has a replacement. They just borrowed Henry Onyekuru from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

Babel is a product of the Ajax academy and incarnated as a 'Wonderkid' in its time. He then moved to Liverpool in the 2006/07 season and stayed at Anfield for four seasons.

After his career at Liverpool began to fade, he decided to move to the Bundesliga to join Hoffenheim. Lasting only one season, Babel returned to his birthplace Ajax in the 2012-2013 season.

Together with Siem de Jong et al, Babel managed to bring Ajax the champion. But his second honeymoon with de Amsterdamers also did not last long, he surprisingly accepted the proposal of the Turkish League's second caste club, Kasimpasa.

Two seasons in Turkey, he then moved from one country to another. Babel joined Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates League, then strengthened Deportivo La Coruna in Spain.

Shortly in Spain, he was part of Besiktas in the 2016-2017 season. In the following season he returned to England to strengthen Fulham, but his performance was not what it used to be.

A year later he returned to Turkey to join his former club rivals, Galatasaray. After wandering to various clubs, now the prodigal son has returned.
