Reappear In ONE Championship, Indonesian Fighter Elipitua Siregar: His Goal Is To "Kill" The Opponent

JAKARTA - Indonesian fighters will grace the ONE Championship bout again. Elipitua Siregar will face Filipino fighter Robin Catalan at ONE 157 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Singapore, 20 May.

The two fighters will battle it out in a strawweight MMA fight. This is a postponed party after the Catalans had to undergo the health protocols that took effect in January.

This match feels important for Elipitua who wants to get back to winning ways. In addition, he has a mission to avenge the defeat of two Indonesian fighters from Robin Catalan.

"The important target is to finish off the opponent and win. If you want to win spectacularly or what, that's a later matter. The important thing is the target is to win," said Elipitua Siregar, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 7.

Ahead of the battle against the Catalans, Elipitua also dissects the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent. According to him, the opponent's style is more inclined to muay thai.

"He often throws kicks and punches. But you shouldn't underestimate his ground ability. He is difficult to take down because he has a wushu basis too," he said.

Regardless of the opponent's strengths, Elipitua admits that he has studied the opponent's weaknesses that he can expose in the match later.

"His (weakness) is on the ground. He may be good at knocking down opponents or resisting takedown attempts. Only when he's playing at the bottom, I can still outsmart him. I think his weakness is when the fight goes down," he added.

Elipitua can turn out to be very aggressive when the match takes place in the lower area. A former wrestling athlete, the man who grew up at Ragunan Sports School has scored three wins in ONE Championship via lockdown, the other by TKO.
