Manchester City Eyeing Erling Haaland, Gabriel Jesus Chooses To Keep Silent About The Future

JAKARTA – Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is silent about his future. He felt there was no right time to read it.

The Brazil international's contract expires in June 2023. However, he has yet to receive a contract extension which has led many to predict he will leave the Etihad at the end of the season.

"This is not the time to think about this. You expect me to say this, but it's true," Jesus said.

Many British media reports City are currently more focused on signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. If the Norwegian player joins the Etihad, it will automatically cut Jesus' flight hours.

For that reason, Jesus' prediction that he would leave could be true. If Haaland moved closer he would be less likely to choose to stay and try to get his place again in the line up front.

"Now is the best moment of the season. I want to enjoy, stay focused on my team, with my team-mates, fighting for the Premier League [title]," he said.

"I won it with my team-mates three times and I know how it feels and I want to have that feeling again," he added.

The 25-year-old scored four goals in City's 5-1 win over Watford at the weekend. It was Jesus' seventh for City in the league this season.

City are currently one point ahead of Liverpool in the standings. The Citizen collected 80 points, followed by the Reds in second place with 79 points and each still had five games remaining.

In addition to having the opportunity to win the league title, City also has a great chance of winning the European Champions League trophy. They are now in the semifinals and will face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the first leg of this midweek.
