JAKARTA – The coach of the U-23 Indonesian national team for the 2021 SEA Games, Shin Tae-yong said that his squad still has many shortcomings. This deficiency was seen when the team had their first test match in South Korea against Andong Science College

In the match that took place at Haemaji Football Field, on Thursday, April 21, Marc Klok and his friends actually won 4-2. Even so, their hard work did not go unnoticed by a weakness that caught Shin's attention.

"There are still many shortcomings, from the feel of the game, timing, and passing are still lacking," said the South Korean coach who was quoted by VOI from the official PSSI website.

Shin Tae-yong said for that evaluation needed to be done, especially regarding the organization of the game. Among them are maintaining distance, finding space in the defensive area, and creating good chances.

"Because there are still several trials, the players do conditioning. Injured players do therapy. The players have to make better organization," he added.

In the match against Andong, coach Shin Tae-yong fielded four senior players as starters. They are Fachruddin Aryanto, Marc Klok, Ricky Kambuaya, and Irfan Jaya.

Next, the Indonesian U-23 Team will play Pohang Steelers on Saturday, April 23, 2022. After that, they will meet Daejeon Hana Citizen on April 27.

After the trial match against Daejeon Hana, Garuda Muda will return to Jakarta. After passing through Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta, they will leave for Vietnam on May 3 or 4 to take part in the SEA Games Hanoi 2021.

At the 2021 SEA Games, the Indonesian U-23 Team is in Group A. In the group there are hosts and defending champions Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Timor Leste.

The 2021 SEA Games will take place from 12-23 May. The sport of soccer has been started since May 6th.
