Scores 34 Points For Nets Victory While Fasting, Kyrie Irving: God Is With Me

JAKARTA - Kyrie Irving successfully became the winner for the Brooklyn Nets against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In that victory, there was an interesting moment. Irving was able to score big points even though he was fasting.

The Brooklyn Nets meet the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021/2022 NBA Eastern Conference play-offs at Barclays Center, New York. In the match which was held on Wednesday, April 13 in the morning WIB, the Nets won 115-108.

In that match, Irving scored a double-double with 34 points and 12 assists. This victory sees the Nets take the seventh seed in the NBA Eastern Conference and will face the Boston Celtics in the first round of the play-offs.

Irving's slick appearance received warm praise. Because, not only because it brought the Nets to win, but also because the player still performed brilliantly even though he was fasting.

In an interview with TNT after the match which was later uploaded in a short video @bleacherreport, Irving said the secret to being able to look extraordinary even when he was fasting could not be separated from God's help.

“This is a journey with God. I am not alone in this. I have brothers and sisters around the world who fast with me," said Irving.

"We hold our prayers and meditations very sacred. When you come out onto the pitch, God is in me. God is in you, God is in all of us. I walk by faith and that's all that matters," continued the 30-year-old. .

Irving is not actually a Muslim since birth, but he decided to convert to Islam in April 2021. Since then Irving has always fasted during the month of Ramadan.

Prior to this, when the Nets played against the Atlanta Hawks on March 2 last, Irving was also caught on camera breaking his fast in the middle of the match. At that time Irving ate fruit from a small box before being surprised to be called by coach Steve Nash to enter the field.
