This Is The Reason Persija Did Not Take Part In The JIS Trial At The 2021 International Youth Championship

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta as the capital city team is assumed not to participate in the 2021 International Youth Championship (IYC) which will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). Regarding that, Gede Widiade as the Chief Executive of IYC has his own answer.

Gede said that his party had sent an official letter to the Kemayoran Tigers. This was done to summon players to the Indonesia All Star team.

"We have asked Persija for the Indonesia All Star, we asked twice with an official letter, but their good players are following the TC in South Korea (for the U-19 national team)," said Gede at a press conference at the Hotel Shangrila, Jakarta on Tuesday, April 12 noon.

However, Persija was finally willing to send two players to participate in IYC 2021. The club's decision was taken after Gede Widiade wrote to him for the second time.

"We wrote a second letter again, then we were given the two best players from their EPA (Elite Pro Academy) team," he continued.

Regarding Persija Jakarta, which was not selected as a participating team at IYC 2021, this is because the position is occupied by Bali United. The Tridatu Soldiers were chosen for their own reasons.

Gede Widiade said it was done based on the wishes of Michel Salgado. In this event, the Real Madrid legend acted as a promoter.

''Input from friends, from Salgado as well, is the team that won in Indonesia. Bali United has won in a row, for Persija we have included two good players who can develop in the future,'' he explained.

IYC 2021 itself will be held on 13-19 April 2022 at the JIS Stadium. Previously, the friendly tournament was scheduled to take place in December 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For participants, this agenda will be played by Barcelona U-18, Atletico Madrid U-18, Bali United U-18, and Indonesia All Star.
