Real Madrid Vs Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel: We Had A Big Loss Physically

JAKARTA - Chelsea will travel to Santiago Bernabeu, the headquarters of Real Madrid, to play the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Wednesday, April 13 in the morning WIB. Ahead of this match, the Chelsea manager, complained about the physical condition of his foster children.

He said, his team suffered a loss in terms of physical because of a fairly tight schedule. As is known, Chelsea played three close matches before this second leg.

First against Brentford on April 2. Then against Real Madrid in the first leg on April 6. Most recently against Southampton on 9 April.

"First of all like this, we wanted it to be more physical. We didn't work hard enough, we weren't intense enough in the first game," Tuchel told the club's official website, as reported by Antara.

"Secondly, we are facing a huge loss physically, because Real Madrid had a full year with five substitutions, we played in the most demanding league and we played the most games all season and throughout 2022. So it's not always easy to play a physical game," he continued.

However, he tries to look on the positive side. He said, there is an advantage behind the proximity of the two matches against Real Madrid.

"This is the beauty of the competition at this stage, that you have two games in a short amount of time, we can learn from the game and we can use the pictures and moments and situations from the first leg to learn in the second leg."

"This is what we are trying to do and this is what we will use in preparation for this match," said Tuchel.

In this match, Chelsea need to win the match by three goals difference over Real Madrid if they want to qualify for the Champions League semifinals. Because, in the first leg, Jorginho and his friends lost 1-3 at Stamford Bridge.
