JAKARTA – Jonatan Christie successfully reached the final of the Badminton Korea Open 2022 after defeating Indian men's singles Kidambi Srikanth 21-19, 21-16 at Palma Stadium, Suncheon, on Saturday, April 9.

In the first set both players played tight to win the first four points. However, Jonathan was three points behind after that before leveling the score at 6-6.

The Indians took the lead again after that to take an 11-8 lead at the interval. After the interval Jonathan added three consecutive numbers to equalize the score.

The same strong score occurred four times after that. However, Jonathan managed to take advantage of the opportunity as he led by a narrow point before winning with a score of 21-19.

In the second game, Jonathan managed to lead the match from the start before being chased by Kidambi to make the score equally strong twice, 13-13 and 14-14. After that Jonathan scored five consecutive points and only lost two points before winning the match.

The owner of the Asian Games gold medal became the first representative to reach the final of the five Indonesian representatives who fought in the semifinals of this Super 500 level tournament.

Previously, the mixed doubles pair Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari had already appeared first. However, this pair ran aground in the hands of Malaysian representatives Tan Kiang Meng/Lai Pei Jing.
