Appointed As Dewa United Coach, Nil Maizar Will Sign 4 Foreign Players

JAKARTA – Dewa United's new coach Nil Maizar has leaked that he will bring in four foreign players to fill his squad. He will also overhaul 40 percent of the old players in the current team.

Dewa United has officially appointed Maizar as their coach for the Indonesian Liga 1 next season. The official announcement was made by the club on Monday, April 4, 2022.

"We agreed in our talks, for now we want to be at the top, and the players who are retained in this old team are around 40 percent, the rest we will look for players who have competence and of course with character according to my training plus four players. foreigners," he told a news conference.

Maizar is a very experienced coach in the highest caste of national football. He was previously recorded to have handled Semen Padang, Persela Lamongan, and the Indonesian national team.

Before being appointed as Dewa United coach, Maizar managed Sriwijaya FC in the Indonesian League 2 competition. However, Sriwijaya's steps were stopped in the last eight, so they had to give up their dream of playing in League 1.

"Of course, Alhamdulillah, I share the vision and mission with the management. After discussions with the club president and manager, we will bring this team to be better and be able to compete at the top," said the coach, who has also coached PS Tira.

Dewa United will be a newcomer to the competition next season. They got a promotion ticket to the Indonesian League 1 after successfully completing the League 2 competition by finishing in third place.

Besides Dewa United, two other teams that were promoted to League 2 were Rans Cilegon and Persis Solo. Meanwhile, Persipura Jayapura, Persela Lamongan, and Persiraja Banda Aceh have to go down to League 2 next season.
