JAKARTA - Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving continues to show his professionalism to keep playing even though he has to fast during Ramadan.

Recently, Irving went viral because the moment when he broke his fast in the middle of an NBA game was spread on social media. The moment occurred during the Brooklyn Nets match against the Atlanta Hawks in the continuation of the 2021/2022 NBA western region match at the State Farm Arena, last Sunday local time.

The moment of Irving breaking his fast in the middle of the match was shared by Nets supporters' accounts on Twitter. The @NetsKingdom account also wrote, Irving broke his fast on the first day of Ramadan by eating fruit.

Apart from fans' accounts, the moment was also shared by journalist Yunus Paksoy based in Washington. In his upload, he mentioned that Irving, who is Muslim, fasted and took time to break his fast in the middle of the match.

"One of the best NBA players who professed to be Muslim and fasted last year Kyrie Irving broke his fast by eating fruit from a small box during the game," Yunus wrote, accompanying a short video.

Because the match was still running, the 30-year-old couldn't finish his iftar. Irving seemed to have to re-enter the field when he received instructions from the coach.

Irving embraced Islam since last season. His decision to convert to Islam was widely discussed in Ramadan 2021.

In Ramadan this year, Irving also again showed evidence that he continues to try to carry out worship as well as possible. This can be seen from his tweets on Twitter while welcoming the holy month of Ramadan.
