Cargo Delay Is A Blessing For Takaaki Nakagami, Able To Appear In MotoGP Argentina After Being Negative For COVID-19

JAKARTA - LCR Honda racer, Takaaki Nakagami, is reported to be able to take part in the Argentine MotoGP race after being tested negative for COVID-19. Nakagami reportedly immediately flew to Argentina to catch up with the team at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit.

"LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider @takanakagami30 has tested negative for COVID-19 and in the next few hours he will be expected to arrive on time to start MotoGP Argentina 2022," wrote Idemitsu's official account quoted from the official MotoGP website.

Previously, Nakagami had tested positive for COVID-19 so he was forced to self-isolate in his home country, Japan.

"Earlier this week before flying to Argentina, Taka (as Takaaki Nakagami) tested positive, but with a high CT score indicating a low virus level and he is also asymptomatic," said Lucio Cecchinello, owner of the LCR team, quoted from Crash.net.

However, the problem with the cargo plane that made MotoGP postponed, turned out to be an advantage for the LCR Honda rider.

Cecchinello and a medical consultant decided to have Nakagami tested regularly every few days.

Luckily, Nakagami's latest test results showed negative and allowed him to go to race at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit.

"Nakagami will arrive at the paddock on Saturday morning, coinciding with the start of track activity, as agreed by IRTA and Dorna," he said.

With the postponement of the Argentina MotoGP schedule, Nakagami still has the opportunity to take part in the complete MotoGP series. This is because the training and qualifying sessions will take place on the same day, namely Saturday, April 2nd. Meanwhile, for Sunday, the racing schedule is still in accordance with the predetermined one.
