JAKARTA - The Indonesian rowing national team won a sweet score in the Asian canoe championship, March 24-26. The Indonesian team won a silver medal in the event which was held in Thailand.

In this championship, the rowing team was strengthened by Anwar Tarra (South Sulawesi), Yuda Firmansyah (West Java), Sofyan (Southeast Sulawesi) and Dedi Saputra (Jambi). The Red and White contingent won silver in the men's 500 meter canoe.

Anwar Tarra said he was grateful to be able to give maximum results for the red and white in the Asian championship.

"Alhamdulillah, we managed to win the silver medal. We lost to the Kazakh canoe team who was in first place and was entitled to the gold medal," said the senior athlete from South Sulawesi, as reported by Antara.

He explained that this championship was an evaluation event to see the latest developments of athletes before competing at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam, next May.

These results further increase the motivation of all athletes to continue to focus on maintaining medal chances at the 2022 SEA Games.

"The four of us are indeed prepared for the SEA Games agenda. We ask for prayers and community support so that we can continue to focus on improving our abilities and achieving achievements," he said.
