Shirtless Afternoon Jog Around Mandalika, Quartararo Is Intercepted By Fans For Selfie

JAKARTA - MotoGP racer Fabio Quartararo caught the attention of the people of Central Lombok, NTB, during a running practice around the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit area, Wednesday.

Wearing shorts, Quartararo coolly ran shirtless under the hot sun in the late afternoon around the Mandalika area.

Launching Antara, the eyes of keen MotoGP fans immediately fell on the French racer who was 'roaming' in the area.

A group of fans even drove their car forward to intercept the Yamaha rider and ask him to take a selfie.

Quartararo who also likes to upload videos of his 'adventures' on the streets of Lombok via social media, heeded their requests, slowed his pace and took a second or two to pose in front of a smartphone camera, before continuing his training.

From the Pullman and Novotel hotels, Quartararo continued to run towards the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit, which is now preening for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia on March 20.

Along the sidewalk, Quartararo again faced the 'intercept' of fans who asked him to take pictures.

Quartararo arrived in Lombok earlier this week, but did not follow the group of MotoGP riders to meet President Joko Widodo and parade in Jakarta on Wednesday morning.

This weekend, Quartararo will be hoping for a positive result from Yamaha's pre-season test at Mandalika last month where he finished second in the lap time with a best lap of 1:31.074 or 0.014s adrift of session leader Pol Espargaro of the Repsol Honda team.

However, the season-opening race in Qatar two weeks ago was not a pleasant experience for the Yamaha rider as he finished only ninth.
