After The City Massacre, De Gea Said A Touching Message For United: We Will Not Give Up

JAKARTA - Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea wrote a touching message after his team was massacred by Manchester City in the Manchester derby.

In the 29th week of the 2021/2022 English League, Manchester United played an away match to the Etihad Stadium, the headquarters of Manchester City. However, in the city club fight, MU lost badly with the final score 1-4.

Midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and winger Riyad Mahrez became a scourge for the Red Devils defense and De Gea's goal. De Bruyne and Mahrez both scored two goals for the Citizens victory in the fifth minute, 28' and 68', and 90'. Meanwhile, MU, can only reply through one goal from Jadon Sancho.

Conceding four goals in this prestigious match was clearly a hard slap for De Gea. After being slaughtered by City, De Gea could not cover his disappointment by writing a touching message for his team.

Through his personal Twitter account, De Gea wrote his determination to be able to bring the team to a better state. In addition, he interprets this defeat as a moment to rise.

"One day, we will bring this club back to where it belongs," De Gea said in a post on Twitter.

"Today was another bad moment in a difficult season but when we still have this shirt to defend, we will not give up," said De Gea added.

Manchester United's defeat also affected De Gea's record this season. From 28 appearances, De Gea has conceded 38 goals and kept a clean sheet 7 times.

Not only that. The Red Devils now have to fight hard to reach the top four at the end of the season. The reason, after the defeat, Manchester United were evicted by Arsenal to fifth place.
