JAKARTA - The central government and the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) continue to intensify vaccinations ahead of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP on March 18-20. Acceleration of vaccination continues to be carried out by all districts/cities, especially in Central Lombok, which is the main location for this international racing agenda.

"The progress of vaccination on Lombok Island will continue to be improved, leading to the implementation of the MotoGP event in March," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy (Coordinating Minister for the Economy) Airlangga Hartarto in a written statement, Saturday, February 19.

The MotoGP pre-season test itself was held on 11-13 February 2022 at the Mandalika Circuit by prioritizing the implementation of health protocols (prokes) according to the SE Head of the COVID-19 Task Force Number 5 of 2022 related to the Bubble System Process during MotoGP 2022.

The NTB Provincial Government emphasized that it would intensify the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination in all regions, in order to pursue the 80 percent target set before the MotoGP event was held in March 2022.

“The emphasis is on vaccination, because before MotoGP, 80 percent had to be vaccinated against two doses. We will pursue the shortfall until March 11 or before MotoGP," said NTB Deputy Governor Sitti Rohmi Djalilah.

According to the Deputy Governor, currently the total vaccination for the second dose has only reached 61.64 percent or 2,410,515 people from the total target population of 3,910,638 people. As for the first vaccination, 90.34 percent or 3,532,747 people and the third dose vaccine were 1.87 percent or 73,152 people.

The Deputy Governor of NTB said that currently handling must focus on vaccination and control of PPKM level parameters. For this reason, he asked the Health Office to ensure the stock and vaccination efforts, especially in Bima City and Bima Regency, to accelerate.

"The spread of the Omicron variant in NTB is still safe. The indication of safety is seen from the availability of rooms at the hospital, the tracing of close contacts is above the national average," he said.

Therefore, the Deputy Governor hopes that all regencies/cities will complete the second vaccine target before March 20 ahead of MotoGP.

"Handling must focus on vaccination and control of PPKM level parameters," he said.
