AKARTA — Febriana Dwi Puji/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi failed to score for Indonesia when they dropped in the second match of the Group Z elimination for the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships.

The Indonesian representative had to give up in a three-set match against the Hong Kong representative at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, on Tuesday, February 15. Febri/Amalia lost 19-21, 21-19, 21-23 to Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam.

The match was fierce since the first set. Febri/Amelia, who had trailed 14-10, managed to make the match hot at the end of the first set.

However, unfortunately the Hong Kong couple managed to come out victorious.

After falling behind at the beginning of the second set, Febri/Amalia tried to get back up and took a narrow 11-10 lead at the interval. The match remained tight after the break and now it was Indonesia's turn to win the set.

In the deciding set, Indonesia's representatives actually had the upper hand when they were far ahead 12-8. However, these advantages are slowly starting to wear off.

Deputy Hong Hong slowly climbed up and took the lead. Febri/Amalia then had to admit the superiority of the opposing representative.

This result makes Indonesia and Hong Kong draw 1-1. Previously, the Garuda squad had scored first through the women's singles, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Gregoria managed to contribute points after defeating Cheung Ying Mei in a short duration match of only 26 minutes with the final score 21-16 and 21-12.

In the next match, Indonesia will field rising star Putri Kusuma Wardani. Princess will face Yeung Sum Yee.
