The Racers Start To Give Diverse Impressions For The Mandalika Circuit On The Second Test Day

JAKARTA — The MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit has entered the second day. The racers also expressed various impressions of the pride of Indonesia's racing track.

The official test at Mandalika has been going on since last Friday, February 11th. On the first day, the test was interrupted by dirt brought by rainwater, so the red flag was raised.

"I think this circuit has its own characteristics, different from other tracks," said Repsol Honda rider Pol Espargaro, who managed to come out as the fastest on the first day, quoted by ANTARA.

"On the first day the track was not clean enough to be fast, I think there are still about two seconds that can be improved if the track is really clean," he added.

Meanwhile, last season's world champion Fabio Quartararo admitted that the Mandalika Circuit had similarities with other tracks he had tried. Among them are those of Thailand, Qatar, and Argentina.

Although there is a good mix of corners, Quartararo doesn't want to see a certain track in Mandalika that could benefit his team, namely Monster Energy Yamaha.

"Because I think it was a mistake. I see this is a normal circuit and I will try my best. That is the best mentality," said the French rider.

Suzuki team rider Alex Rins underwent a positive first day test. However, he responded to the less than optimal track conditions which had hampered the morning test session on the first day.

"At first the track was a bit dirty. There was no grip and it was quite difficult and dangerous, but I think because it's been days since no one has raced here with the construction going on, it's normal," he said.

The pre-season at the Mandalikan was the final test official of the season. The riders will be testing their bikes until it ends on Sunday, the 13th tomorrow.

Mandalika is the second series in MotoGP 2022. The race there will be held on March 18-20 after the Qatar series.
