Seven COVID-19 Positive Personnel, Indonesian Patriots Basketball Team Has Been Blocked From Participating In The Second Series Of IBL 2022

JAKARTA - A total of seven Indonesian Patriots team personnel have tested positive for COVID-19. This prevented them from participating in the second series of IBL 2022.

The second series of the highest national basketball caste began on Saturday, January 29 yesterday. On the same day seven Patriots personnel still tested positive based on the results of the PCR test.

"The Indonesian Patriots team has still not been able to get clearance to enter the second series of IBL Tokopedia bubbles," said IBL President Director Junas Miradiarsyah in an official statement received by VOI.

A total of 27 Patriots team personnel underwent a PCR test on January 26 as a condition for entering the bubble. However, the test results showed seven of them were positive for the corona virus.

The seven personnel are Ali Bagir Wayarabi Alhadar, AA Gede Bagus, Victory Lobbu, Serigne Modou Kane, assistant coach Ricky Gunawan, team manager Jamin Matotoran and Renny Dwi Chandrawati.

A day later the test was repeated again. The test results even stated that Aldy Izzatur Rahman was indicated as positive for COVID-19.

"We then retested the eight people again on Saturday, January 29. The results were seven people were still positive and only Modou was tested negative for Covid-19," Junas said.

The team of expert doctors accompanying the IBL organizers will re-test all Indonesian Patriots club personnel in the next 1x24 hours.

The Indonesian Patriots were supposed to play today against NSH Mountain Gold Timika. However, the COVID-19 case made the match schedule for Ali Bagir and his friends uncertain.

IBL 2022 series 2 will be held at GOR C-TRA Arena, Bandung until February 5th.
