JAKARTA – The General Chair of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Marciano Norman asked for the National Training Center (Pelatnas) for the Hanoi 2021 SEA Games to be accelerated. The request was made considering the approach of the biennial event.
The multi-sport event throughout Southeast Asia is scheduled to take place from May 12-23 in Vietnam. However, until now Pelatnas sports branches have not been carried out simultaneously.
For this reason, Marciano hopes that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will immediately issue a decision related to Pelatnas so that the branches can have time to prepare themselves.
"Of course, it must be done immediately because the current leadership of the sports branch has started the National Training, but there are also those who are still waiting," Marciano said in a statement on the official KONI website.
In addition, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) was also asked to immediately determine the sports to be sent to Hanoi based on a proposal from the Indonesian National Sports Committee and the Indonesian Olympic Committee.
"For sports leaders who have prepared their athletes such as weightlifting, badminton, taekwondo, and so on, for which Pelatnas have been running, I certainly express my gratitude and highest appreciation," said Marciano.

Deputy for Sports Achievement Improvement at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Chandra Bhakti on January 20 said that currently, his party is still reviewing proposals from each sport.
The process prioritizes the branches that have the potential to win a gold medal and those that will be competed in the Olympics. This was done in accordance with the main targets contained in the Great Design of National Sports (DBON).
"We will review (the proposal) as the initial stage of the Pelatnas process. The review process is carried out by an independent team, sports experts, and representatives from KOI and KONI," said Chandra.
The SEA Games were supposed to be held in 2021, but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to this event, Indonesia will also participate in the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games on September 10-25.
