Shin Tae-yong Calls 5 New Faces To The Indonesian National Team, Here's The List

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong has pocketed a list of 27 names of players that he will prepare to face the FIFA Matchday agenda. Of the 27 names, five of them are new faces.

The South Korean coach still included players who helped the national team win the runner-up title in the 2020 AFF Cup. However, as a follow-up effort, Shin Tae-yong also combined old players with five new players to make the team's performance more impressive.

On this occasion, Shin Tae-yong called players like Terens Puhiri to Sani Rizki. Two young players, Marselino Ferdinand and Ronaldo Joybera Kwateh were also on the list.

The first name on Shin Tae-yong's list was Achmad Figo, who is an Arema FC player. Figo was called to the Indonesian national team as a surprise because the new player had the opportunity to play with Singo Edan three times.

Nevertheless, Figo became one of four names of Arema players who were called to the Indonesian national team. The other three names are Rizky Dwi, Dedik Setiawan, and Muhammad Rafli.

Next, there is Sani Rizki, who is a starter for Bhayangkara FC. Sani is called Shin Tae-yong again after being forgotten for so long.

The 24-year-old was last called up to join the Indonesian national team TC in July 2020. Sani's recall follows a record 13 matches with one assist this season.

Part of the Indonesian U-22 national team squad when the 2019 AFF U-22 Cup champion was also considered to have a playful and uncompromising character.

The third name is Persebaya Surabaya player, Marselino Ferdinand. Even though he is only 17 years old, he is a young player who has made a surprising appearance in Liga 1 this season.

One of the reasons Shin Tae-yong chose Ferdinand is because the player's performance has continued to climb since week 15 of Liga 1. He has always scored or provided assists in Persebaya's last five matches.

Then there is Terens Puhiri who strengthens Borneo FC. Terens had participated in the selection of the U-22 Indonesian national team when he was still under the direction of Luis Milla in 2017.

Since then, Terens' name has not been included in the circulation of players who can strengthen the Indonesian national team. But now Shin Tae-yong entrusted the player to join the squad. This is clearly a golden opportunity that should not be wasted. This season, Terens has performed well with 4 goals and 4 assists from 19 matches.

The last name is Ronaldo Kwateh, who is a Madura United player who is predicted to be one of Indonesia's future players. This refers to the qualities possessed by the 17-year-old player.

Ronaldo has yet to score or provide assists in Liga 1 for Madura United this season. However, it seems that it is only a matter of time because even though it is difficult to score at the club, Ronaldo actually showed off with the U-18 Indonesia national team during a tour of Turkey with five goals from three test matches.
