PSSI Denies Meeting Deadlock During Evaluation Meeting With Shin Tae-yong

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan denied that his party had reached a dead end when holding an evaluation meeting with the coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong.

The evaluation meeting with Shin Tae-yong took place last Thursday, January 13. The meeting in question discussed the appearance of the Indonesian national team at the 2020 AFF Cup in Singapore.

"There is no (dead end)," said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule to the media crew at the Kimaya Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday, January 16.

News of the impasse in the meeting with Shin Tae-yong initially surfaced after PSSI Executive Committee member Haruna Soemitro spoke on the JPNN.com YouTube channel.

Communication with Shin Tae-yong is also not going well. This is because the South Korean coach was offended when the national football parent gave criticism.

However, Iriawan denied this. The meeting could not continue because Shin Tae-yong caught a plane to Bali.

"It has not been maximized because (he) hastily left for Bali. So we will continue after he returns," said Iriawan.

Shin Tae-yong is currently in Bali to monitor Indonesian League 1 players. He will prepare the team for the international break later this month.

The Indonesian national team is scheduled to play two international friendlies on January 24 and 27 in Bali.

However, the national team that is a candidate against Indonesia has not been confirmed by PSSI. Previously, Bangladesh had agreed to meet with Indonesia, but then it was cancelled.

Currently Timor Leste is the strongest candidate as a candidate against Indonesia.

In addition to preparing the team for the international break, Shin Tae-yong also has an agenda for the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup in Cambodia on February 14-26.
