Ferran Torres' Comments On Eric Garcia's Instagram Are Questions, Is The Transfer Deal To Barca Complete?

JAKARTA - Lack of options in attack has hindered Barcelona in the race to win La Liga this season. The new coach Xavi has not been able to improve the situation at the Blaugrana since arriving from Qatar.

With 17 league games already played, Barcelona are seventh behind Rayo Vallecano, Real Betis and Real Sociedad. In fact, all these clubs can be defeated by Sergio Busquets et al in terms of position in the standings.

Rumors then blew, Xavi eyeing Manchester City striker Ferran Torres to help the team's struggle. And as if to welcome the rumours, the Spaniard is active on social media.

When Barcelona defender Eric Garcia posted the Catalans' 3-2 win against Elche on Saturday on his Instagram account, Torres was quick to respond with congratulations.

Some fans think this is a signal that the deal for Torres is done. But really, this is just a friendly interaction between coworkers.

Torres and Garcia were team-mates at Manchester City last season before Garcia left the Etihad Stadium to move to the Nou Camp on a free transfer.

They have also been teammates in the Spanish national team and youth team where they have enjoyed a lot of success together.

In fact, the signing of Torres could be very difficult for Barcelona. Torres contract with City runs until 2025 and the asking price of 70 million euros is almost certainly not able to be met by Barca.

Currently, Barca is still experiencing a financial crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And the desire to anchor Torres at the Camp Nou must be immediately put aside.
