Good News! King Okto Saptahari Says There Is Hope For WADA Sanctions To Be Completed Before The Vietnam SEA Games

JAKARTA - Raja Okto Saptahari said Indonesia's fast performance in fulfilling sanctions was appreciated by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Because of that, he said there was hope that the sanctions could be completed before the 2022 SEA Games Vietnam.

This hope came because WADA saw the seriousness of Indonesia in efforts to lift sanctions. In addition, Indonesia is also considered to be fast in resolving pending matters that have been determined

Based on this, WADA then promised to review the sanctions against Indonesia so that the lifting of sanctions could be completed as soon as possible.

"Hopefully this sanction can be lifted soon. We hope that with everything we have done, there will be good news soon. So that at the next event we will raise the Red and White flag again," said Okto, who is the Chair of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Revocation of WADA Sanctions at a press conference. online on Monday, December 13.

"If the SEA Games later (2022 in Vietnam), God willing, if in May the Red and White flag can be flown," he stressed again.

As previously reported, the sanctions imposed by WADA are in the form of not allowing Indonesia to have representatives of international organizations, not being allowed to host, not being able to play the Indonesia Raya anthem, and not being allowed to fly the Red and White flag at various sporting events.

Regarding the sanctions, Okto said that there are still international federations that do not agree with what WADA has determined for Indonesia. Therefore, Okto also asked WADA to provide an explanation so that there would be no more mistakes.

"Specifically, the sanctions imposed on Indonesia are related to the four points. We have conveyed it to WADA when the task force team and the secretary general of WADA had a different understanding," he said.

"In the meeting there (Switzerland), WADA promised to re-evaluate the sanctions imposed, they also promised to bridge the delivery of information about Indonesia's sanctions to international federations out there," Okto explained.

Regarding sanctions, WADA itself is actually still providing concessions for Indonesia. This is in the form of still being allowed to play the anthem Indonesia Raya and the use of the flag color (red and white) in various attributes of athletes and teams.
