For The Sake Of Being Able To Appear In The National Team, PSSI Rushes To Naturalize Four European Names

JAKARTA - PSSI is taking serious steps to speed up the naturalization process for several European players. This is done by PSSI so that these players can immediately dock and strengthen the national team in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers.

The four names of European players whose naturalization process is being pursued by PSSI are Sandy Walsh, Jordi Amat, Mees Hilgers and Kevin Diks.

If the naturalization process can be pursued as quickly as possible, these European players are expected to join to defend the Indonesian national team in February 2022.

“So the process will indeed be a long one until it is approved by the DPR. The process can be unpredictable. But our hope is fast," said PSSI Executive Committee member Hasani Abdulgani in a written statement received by VOI, Sunday, November 28.

"Our target is that they can defend the national team in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. If this process is completed quickly, at least January-February can be done," he continued.

Of the four names being pursued, PSSI has confirmed that three of them have expressed their willingness. Meanwhile, one name, namely Kevin Diks, is still being negotiated by PSSI.

Although moving quickly, PSSI will check the details of the documents for the four players in question. This is to determine whether they really have Indonesian blood.

Because PSSI doesn't want the Marc Klok incident to repeat itself. The reason is that Marc Klok, who is already legally an Indonesian citizen, has not been able to defend the Indonesian national team because he cannot show documents that he has Indonesian blood.
