JAKARTA - PSSI General Chair (Ketum) Mochamad Iriawan said as many as 84 referees in League 1 planned to submit a subpoena against the Mata Najwa program. This follows their disappointment over Mr Y's confession at the event.

In the Mata Najwa program with the theme PSSI Can What Volume 6, one resource person appeared, namely Mr. Y who claimed to be a League 1 referee. In that program he said he had practiced score-fixing in several matches that had already taken place.

Related to this, Iriawan said that all League 1 referees felt insulted by the confession. Because as many as 84 League 1 referees admitted that no one had ever been contacted and interviewed in the Mata Najwa event.

"The League 1 referees were devastated by the recognition from Mr Y who claimed to be the League 1 referee. They were ridiculed by their friends and neighbors," said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan when giving a statement at the PSSI Office, Tuesday, November 23.

"So, they told me that of the 37 central referees, the assistant referees are 47, there are a total of 84, they feel cornered," added Iriawan.

Furthermore, the Head of PSSI said that none of the 84 referees felt that they had testified at the Mata Najwa event. For that reason, the referees intend to file a subpoena against the program and ask to reveal the true identity of Mr Y.

"So they (84 referees) made a statement above a notary, to ask Mata Najwa who it was who came there, just open it. There are no League 1 referees there," said Iriawan.

For this discrepancy, Iriawan also emphasized that the program could always hand over Mr. Y as a resource person to the police. This is to uncover and eradicate cases of match-fixing in Indonesian football.

"We ask that (Mr Y) can be handed over to the police, or else there will be something between Bambang Suryo and Mata Najwa. That means it's been set, you can't say it's a setting, if not, leave it to the police, open Mr Y (his identity). Please help us, don't be fooled," said Iriawan.
