JAKARTA - Gareth Southgate expressed his feelings after being trusted again to be the England national team tactician. He said he was happy to be able to extend his tenure with the Three Lions.

Monday, November 22, England time, Gareth Southgate officially signed a contract extension as England coach. In his new contract, Southgate is trusted to lead the squad until December 2024.

Still trusted to be the England national team tactician with his assistant Steve Holland, Southgate said he was happy. He also said that this is a special opportunity.

“I am delighted that Steve (assistant coach) and I were able to extend our tenure. It is a tremendous privilege to lead this team", Southgate said.

For Southgate, the trust he still has is a huge opportunity. Because the 51-year-old man feels he can continue to carry out his work projections for the team to be able to offer the best.

"We have a huge opportunity ahead of us and I know they (the team) and the fans are all excited about what this squad can achieve in the future."

Under the direction of Southgate and Holland, the England national team managed to advance to the EURO 2020 final. Southgate's long tenure also allowed him to accompany the team at EURO 2024 in Germany later.

Along with Southgate, the England national team successfully secured their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The result was achieved after they won against Albania and San Marino which made them top the qualifying Group I with a score of 26 points.

Southgate is known to first get the opportunity to sit in the coach's chair in 2016. At that time he was trusted to become an interim coach after Sam Allardyce resigned.
