Men's Singles Sector Evaluation Of Indonesia Masters 2021, Coach: Lack Of Preparation And Tight Competition

JAKARTA - Indonesia's men's singles badminton coach, Irwansyah, assessed that the slack performance of his students at the 2021 Indonesia Masters tournament was a combination of a lack of preparation after participating in the tournament in Europe last month and the tight competition in this sector.

"The competition is still tight, it's just that at the Indonesia Masters our badminton players are also not well prepared," said Irwansyah, as quoted by Antara, Monday, November 22.

Moreover, national team mainstay athletes such as Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting had a back injury while appearing at the Denmark Open, requiring intensive recovery steps.

Then after in Indonesia, the two did not have much time to practice because they had to spend a lot of time healing and isolating after returning from abroad.

Although all representatives of Indonesia could only appear until the second round or the last 16, which left Shesar Hiren Rhustavito and Jonatan, Irwansyah was quite grateful because his team could play optimally.

"We are still grateful, considering that they have struggled in the field. In the future, we really have to correct what their shortcomings and strengths are and mature ahead of the next tournament," Irwansyah explained.

Irwansyah made predictions of preparations not only for the Indonesia Open which will take place tomorrow in the bubble of the Indonesia Badminton Festival, but also including the World Tour Finals and the World Championships in Spain.

According to Irwansyah, the tournament at IBF 2021 will be a suitable medium to see the extent of the strength of his athletes before being led to play on a bigger agenda.

While competing in the Indonesia Masters, Irwansyah has also pocketed a number of records of changes and improvements to the opponent's character when facing Indonesian badminton players.

"There are opponents who have matured and are smart to change the game, this must be considered before playing and determining strategy," he said.

In the next tournament, Irwansyah still hopes that his sector can win the championship title because statistically the men's singles athlete of the Cipayung National Training Center still has promising competence.

"If the target is yes, if you can, these children will win, only that the enemy is also strong. So this week we are preparing again for tomorrow. God willing, the results will be better," he concluded.
