Defeating Malaysian Representatives Through Rubber Game, Marcus/Kevin Secure Tickets To Final

JAKARTA – The Indonesian men's doubles pair, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, managed to secure a ticket to the 2021 Indonesia Masters final.

The result was achieved by Marcus / Kevin after defeating the unseeded Malaysian doubles pair Ong Yew Sin / Teo Ee Yi. Despite facing non-seeds, The Minions are forced to fight hard.

Before securing a ticket to the final, Marcus/Kevin were forced to go through a rubber game. In the match at the Bali International Convention & Resort, Nusa Dua, The Minions had to play for 57 minutes to win the battle with the final result 18-21, 21-17, 21-11.

In the early game Marcus/Kevin started the game well. But before the interval they were slightly behind with a score of 10-11. After the break, The Minions were forced to play harder because they could not overtake the Malaysian doubles pair with a score of 18-21.

Entering the second half, Marcus / Kevin tried to get up. Armed with the direction of the coach, both of them were able to close this second game with a result of 21-17.

After playing in a draw, both of them were forced to continue their struggle in the rubber game to ensure a ticket to the final. In this decisive round, Marcus / Kevin were able to excel at the interval with a score of 11-9.

The opponent continued to follow this result, but with the consistency shown by Marcus / Kevin, Ong / Teo were overwhelmed and often made their own mistakes until the final score belonged to The Minions with a score of 21-11.

With this result, The Minion is Indonesia's only hope to win the title. In the finals, Marcus/Kevin will be waiting for the Japanese doubles pair, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi, who will advance to the top after beating the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.
