PAPUA - The song 'Children of Medan' accompanies the arrival of the North Sumatra (North Sumatra) contingent who will perform at the 2021/XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) which starts from November 2-15.
Welcoming athletes and contingents of North Sumatra for the 2021 Peparnas were centered in Istora Papua, Sentani Regency today.
To fuel the spirit before competing, a number of athletes and officials from the North Sumatran contingent seemed to sing and dance to just unwind after a long journey from Medan.
Previously, the North Sumatran contingent had arrived in Jayapura City on Wednesday afternoon via Sentani Airport. The arrival of the group was then greeted with a welcome greeting.
The head of the North Sumatra NPC, Alan Sastra Ginting, thanked the entire contingent in good health after arriving in Jayapura. The athletes then immediately rested at the hotel to recover physically and stamina.
"Alhamdulillah, all of our conditions after arriving in Papua are good and no one is sick. Hopefully this condition can continue like this and even increase before the match," said Alan as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 3.
Meanwhile, the table tennis athletes, Sofyan welcomed the warmth of the committee who had received the arrival of the athletes and official groups even though in a simple atmosphere.
"We are ready to support Papua's success in hosting the National Tournament. We athletes from North Sumatra also want to win medals here," said Sofyan.
At Peparnas 2021 Papua, the North Sumatran contingent will be strengthened by 66 athletes who will compete in nine sports. North Sumatra targets 40 gold medals to be won this year.
