TCL Expands Business into the EV Sector, Operates a Smart Cockpit Factory

JAKARTA - Consumer electronics giant TCL is further expanding its penetration, this time the Chinese electronics brand is rumored to be launching an automated smart cockpit manufacturing facility in Shenyang. Citing from the Carnewschina page, Thursday, June 11, this refers to an IThome report that says TCL is betting that the expertise developed in the fields of television, screens, and consumer electronics can be applied to one of the fastest growing segments of the electric vehicle industry. Operated by Yuxin Zhixing Technology (Shenyang) Co., Ltd., a joint venture between TCL Industries and Brilliance China, this facility has officially started production after a development cycle that began with the signing of the project at the end of 2024. "Construction began in March 2025, trial production was achieved in December 2025, and full-scale production began in June 2026," the report said.

The factory covers more than 25,000 square meters and is equipped with 10 SMT production lines and 20 final assembly lines dedicated to automotive smart displays and smart cockpit products. According to TCL, the factory is capable of operating with an automation rate of over 85 percent. Automated systems handle material loading, component placement, online inspection, and unloading processes. A complete final assembly line can operate with only three technicians overseeing production. In addition, the facility can produce a variety of automotive display products, including instrument panels, center infotainment screens, passenger screens, rear entertainment screens, roof-mounted screens, and integrated smart cockpit systems. Among the products that will eventually be present, one of them is creating a removable screen, and allowing passengers to control the climate, entertainment, and vehicle settings independently from the rear cabin. This concept of a removable screen is in line with the broader industry shift towards a connected cockpit ecosystem.
