Seres Partners with TikTok Parent to Launch New AI-Based Car Brand

JAKARTA - Seres Group is rumored to be launching a new automotive brand under the new company Saidou Technology. The new brand is the result of a collaboration between Seres and ByteDance's cloud and AI platform, the parent company of TikTok, namely Volcano Engine.

Quoting from the Carnewschina website, Tuesday, June 2, According to internal sources, Saidou Technology is preparing to launch its first model this year.

The vehicle is expected to be a crossover, positioned between an SUV and a sedan, and will offer a choice of pure electric powertrains up to EREV. Production is planned to be carried out at the Seres Phoenix plant, which is currently undergoing repairs.

The brand will differentiate itself through a strong focus on AI-driven user experience. Unlike the Aito brand, which uses Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving solution, Saidou is expected to leverage the advanced AI cockpit and large language model capabilities of the Volcano Engine.

The new brand is positioned to target a younger and active demographic, and will feature dedicated sales channels for both domestic and international markets.

Strategic restructuring and new brand identity

This transition follows a massive capital restructuring of the previous Landian brand. On May 29, Chongqing Landian Technology officially changed its name to Chongqing Saidou Technology.

Seres has relinquished its controlling stake in the entity, with its shareholding reduced to around 32.96 percent, while the government-backed Shapingba platform became the largest shareholder with a shareholding of 34.50 percent. This move is designed to optimize Seres' asset structure and remove old unprofitable businesses from its consolidated financial statements.
