JAKARTA - PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) held a discussion with the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to PO Primajasa, as a platform to build a safer and sustainable transportation ecosystem.
Carrying the theme 'Building a Safe and Fair Transportation Mode by Providing Competent Drivers and Vehicle Maintenance Management', in the discussion, Hino emphasized that the implementation of a sustainable safety campaign is part of the company's mission to create safe transportation, especially for people's movement, as well as contribute to actively preventing accidents through collaboration with all stakeholders.
According to KNKT Senior Investigator, Ahmad Wildan, based on the results of the KNKT investigation, human factor is still the main cause of the accident. In addition, the condition of the vehicle and operational system also has an influence.
"Therefore, increasing driver competence and vehicle maintenance management is an important key in improving transportation safety," he said, during a discussion at GIICOMVEC 2026, Thursday, April 9.
On the same occasion, HMSI Training Division Head, Pieter Andre, explained the importance of driver training and vehicle maintenance management as a safety investment.
"Commercial vehicle drivers have a great responsibility. Continuous training will improve competence, safety awareness, and driving efficiency. In addition, good vehicle maintenance management ensures that vehicles are always roadworthy and safety features work optimally," said Pieter Andre.
Through discussions held in the context of GIICOMVEC 2026, all speakers agreed that collaboration between ATPM, regulators and operators is the key to improving driver competence, vehicle maintenance quality, and building a culture of transportation safety in Indonesia. This synergy is expected to be able to present a safer mode of transportation, roadworthy, and provide maximum protection for the community.
"As an operator, we ensure selective driver recruitment, periodic training, and the implementation of a disciplined vehicle maintenance management system. We also increase maintenance standards according to the ATPM standard, ranging from workshop procedures, facilities, to increasing the competence of mechanics and providing vehicle inspectors," said Director of Business Development and Organization of PO Primajasa, Bayu Permana.
