JAKARTA - The development of electric vehicles or electric vehicles (EV) in Indonesia continues to show a trend that is increasingly strong as the community's mobility increases. To provide this support, BYD presents a special service program entitled Journey with Confidence.
Data from the Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) recorded the population of electric vehicles in Indonesia in 2024 at around 43 thousand units. This number then jumped sharply in 2025 to around 104 thousand units, or more than doubled in just one year.
In this growth, BYD also plays a significant role, the company recorded sales of nearly 80 thousand electric vehicle units in various regions of Indonesia since 2024. This achievement further strengthens BYD's position as one of the main drivers in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in the domestic market.
The surge in the use of EVs can also be seen in people's travel patterns, including during the Lebaran homecoming season. In 2024 homecoming, it was recorded that around 4,300 electric vehicles were used for the trip home.
A year later, the number increased drastically to more than 13,600 units during the 2025 homecoming period. This trend confirms that electric vehicles are now increasingly trusted for long-distance travel with the family.
"Today, more and more Indonesian families are starting to confidently travel across cities with EVs, even for important moments like homecoming. This shows that electric vehicles are no longer just a daily mobility solution, but are also increasingly trusted for long-distance travel," said Head of Public and Government Relations PT BYD Motor Indonesia Luther Panjaitan, quoted Saturday, March 14.
"However, behind this decision, the readiness of the ecosystem remains an important factor to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience for users. Therefore, BYD provides comprehensive service support for users, ranging from vehicle preparation before the trip, support during the homecoming period, to services after the homecoming period is completed," he continued.
To provide this support, BYD presents a special service program entitled Journey with Confidence. This program is designed to provide assistance to BYD vehicle users from the preparation stage before the trip, support during the homecoming period, to vehicle inspection after the trip is completed.
One of the services provided is the General Safety Check, which is a thorough inspection of the vehicle's condition to ensure that performance remains optimal before being used for the homecoming trip. This inspection includes various important aspects, such as checking the overall condition of the vehicle (vehicle health status), tightening of vehicle bolts, vehicle fluid levels, to safety feature inspections.
The program is available at all BYD official dealer networks in Indonesia and lasts for two months, namely from February 20 to April 20, 2026. This period includes a period of about one month before and one month after Eid al-Fitr, so users have a flexible enough time to check the vehicle.
Apart from vehicle inspection services, BYD also presents the BYD Homecoming Post at a number of strategic points along the Trans Java toll road. This route is one of the main routes for homecoming travel connecting Jakarta with various major cities on the island of Java.
Overall, there are six homecoming posts that have been prepared to provide additional support for BYD vehicle users during the trip. At this location, users can take advantage of various facilities such as light vehicle inspections, technical consultations with the BYD team, and information regarding the location of electric vehicle charging along the route.
To support the homecoming flow from Jakarta to various cities on the island of Java, the BYD Homecoming Post operates from March 13 - 20, 2026 at the following locations: Rest Area KM 57 - Karawang, West Java Rest Area KM 228A - Cirebon, West Java Rest Area KM 379A - Batang, Central Java Rest Area KM 575A - Madiun, East Java
Meanwhile, to support the return flow to Jakarta, the BYD Homecoming Post also took place on March 21-25, 2026 at the following locations: Rest Area KM 229B - Cirebon, West Java Rest Area KM 62B - Karawang, West Java
The location of KM 57 Karawang became the main checkpoint in this program. Visitors can take advantage of various supporting facilities such as waiting areas, snacks and soft drinks, prayer rooms, to children's play areas so that users can rest more comfortably before continuing their journey.
A number of posts are also equipped with electric vehicle charging facilities, including DC fast charging at the main post and AC charging at several other posts that can be used by users while at the location.
In addition, BYD also prepares a network of 21 standby dealers that will continue to operate during the Lebaran holiday period on March 19-23, 2026. These dealers are spread across various regions of Indonesia and serve as emergency service points for electric vehicle users who need technical assistance during their journey.
"With the readiness of this service, we hope that BYD vehicle users can travel home more calmly because technical support is still available if needed," concluded Head of After Sales PT BYD Motor Indonesia Ubaedilah.
