BAIC BJ30 HEV Comes in 3 Variants at IIMS 2026, What's the Difference?

JAKARTA - BAIC Indonesia is once again presenting vehicle innovations through the launch of the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) which is now available in three new line-up options at the 2026 IIMS, namely Type LITE, Type PRIME, and Type Adventure.

The presence of these three variants gives consumers more flexibility to choose a vehicle according to their needs. This strategic step is part of BAIC Indonesia's efforts to present a hybrid SUV that is not only technologically advanced, but also relevant to various user characters.

"BAIC Indonesia will continue to present products that can meet the needs of Indonesian consumers at competitive prices, supported by qualified and high-standard customer service," said Chief Operating Officer of BAIC Indonesia, Dhani Yahya, as quoted Friday, February 6.

The Type LITE variant is available as a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) option with a minimalist and clean design. The configuration without roof rails, panoramic sunroof, side footsteps, front fog lamps, and side lamps on the wheel arch makes the appearance simpler but still stylish.

Cabin cooling is also claimed to be faster and more comfortable for the tropical climate, making it an ideal choice for urban users who prioritize clean aesthetics, functionality, and more economical prices.

Meanwhile, Type PRIME offers a balance between style and features. Still carrying the FWD system, this variant has been equipped with roof rails, panoramic sunroof, and side footsteps, presenting a premium look with efficiency in urban use.

Interestingly, this FWD version also has a longer mileage thanks to a 60-liter fuel tank capacity, which is larger than the AWD variant with a capacity of 51 liters. For consumers with an adventurous soul, the Adventure Type is the most complete option.

Relying on the All Wheel Drive (AWD) system, this variant is equipped with roof rails, panoramic sunroof, side footsteps, front fog lamps, and side lamps on the wheel arch. Masculine character combined with light offroad ability, supported by seven driving modes including special offroad mode.

All variants of the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid carry the latest parallel series hybrid system with a 1,500 cc turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine combined with a responsive 2 DHT transmission. This combination produces an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, fuel consumption of up to 15.5 km/l, and a range of up to 1,000 km.

Safety features are also strengthened with an ADAS Level 2 system, while two high-performance electric motors offer efficiency of up to 98.5 percent thanks to the support of an oil cooling system. In terms of design, the BJ30 looks dashing with dimensions of 4,730 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, and 1,790 mm high.

The iconic five-hole grille is combined with modern DRL, a floating hardtop, and fender lights that confirm the identity of an SUV with an offroad character. The interior carries a premium high-tech feel through a 10.25-inch LCD instrument screen, a 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen, interactive ambient lighting, to a futuristic electronic transmission lever.

Cabin comfort is supported by an insulation system with 22 damping points and NVH quality that is claimed to be equivalent to a library. For the Adventure AWD type, BJ30 is equipped with an All Terrain system with Snow, Mud, Sand, and Wading modes that can adjust the torque and stability of the vehicle automatically.

Ground clearance of 215 mm and optimal approach and departure angles ensure that cross-terrain capabilities remain reliable. This model has also passed extreme testing of 4 million kilometers in various parts of the world, ranging from 50 degrees Celsius to minus 35 degrees Celsius, including at the extreme altitude of Everest base camp.
