JAKARTA - BYD officially introduced its newest brand, Linghui, which specifically targets online transportation businesses in China. This announcement is also a signal that the Shenzhen-based manufacturer is preparing to launch its fifth brand in the domestic market.
Currently, BYD has four brands in China, namely BYD, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang. In January, the company filed a number of models with unusual names, which then strengthened the suspicion that the new brand would be named Linghui.
Quoted from Carnewschina, Monday, February 2, its product line is projected to focus on cost-effective vehicles for business-to-business (B2B) needs. On February 2, BYD began to give official leaks related to Linghui by launching a special page on the social media platform Weibo.
"Welcome Linghui! Start a better life and lead the way on the value-added journey!" The accompanying visual material also confirms Linghui's promise to carry the luggage and hopes of its users," wrote BYD.
Until now, the details of the new brand have not been fully revealed. However, as previously reported, Linghui will focus on online transportation services, taxis, and company operational vehicles.
The sale is carried out through an independent distribution channel that is separate from private passenger cars. Interestingly, the four Linghui flagship models are actually developments of existing BYD models.
Linghui's initial lineup includes three pure electric sedans and one plug-in hybrid minivan (PHEV). The cheapest model is the Linghui e5 which is based on the BYD Qin Plus EV sedan, with dimensions of 4,805 mm long, 1,837 mm wide and 1,530 mm high, and an electric motor with 100 kW (134 hp) power.
Next is the Linghui e7 EV with dimensions of 4,780/1,900/1,515 mm. This model is available in two electric motor options, namely the entry-level 100 kW version and the more powerful 130 kW (174 hp) variant.
Meanwhile, the Linghui flagship electric sedan is the e9 developed from the BYD Han EV. This large sedan has dimensions of 4,995/1,940/1,495 mm and offers two electric motor options, 135 kW (181 hp) and 150 kW (201 hp).
The only PHEV model on the list is the Linghui M9, which is based on the BYD Xia minivan or which is marketed globally as the BYD M9). This seven-passenger vehicle measures 5,200/1,970/1,805 mm, combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor.
