BYD Targets 1.3 Million Unit Export Sales by 2026

JAKARTA - After achieving an extraordinary export increase in 2025 with a record of 1,046,083 new energy vehicles (NEV), BYD is targeting new achievements for the overseas market in 2026.

CNevpost, Monday, January 26, General Manager of Branding and Public Relations BYD, Li Yunfei, revealed the overseas sales target of 1.3 million units by 2026.

This was revealed during a media meeting in Shanghai on Saturday, representing growth of around 24 percent from 2025.

The company exported 1,046,083 new energy vehicles (NEV), including passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles in 2025, marking an increase of 150.74 percent compared to the previous year.

Previously, it was reported in November that Citigroup quoted BYD management's statement saying that the company's overseas sales guidance for 2026 ranged from 1.5 million to 1.6 million units.

"BYD's overseas sales structure is balanced across all regions, with Europe, North America, and ASEAN accounting for one-third of its total overseas sales by 2025," the report notes.

BYD sold 4,602,436 units of electric vehicles (NEV) in 2025, an increase of 7.73 percent compared to the previous year. Passenger vehicle sales reached 4,545,423 units, up 6.94 percent compared to the previous year.

BYD has managed to achieve positive achievements in the Indonesian automotive market, even claiming to have managed to dominate the electric car market with a variety of complete models that have been offered.

The Chinese brand shared data that it has controlled 57 percent of the BEV market share in the country through BYD and Denza, with sales figures promising.

Referring to Gaikindo data, the distribution of vehicles from the factory to dealers or wholesales BYD from January to November 2025 amounted to 40,151 units and the Denza brand was 7,176 units.

Meanwhile, for shipments from dealers to consumers directly in the same period, a total of 39,289 units for the BYD brand and 7,047 for models under the Denza brand.
