Honda Prelude Sales Still Slow, Only 204 Units Sold

JAKARTA - Honda Prelude officially returned to the United States market, the initial sales of this hybrid coupe were still not good. In December 2025, Prelude only recorded 174 units in the Uncle Sam's country.

The figure has indeed jumped compared to November which only recorded 30 units, but it is still far from the word impressive in the coupe segment. When compared to the closest rival, the Prelude's performance is still lagging behind.

Subaru BRZ recorded 229 units in December, while Toyota Supra recorded 277 units and Toyota GR86 sold 576 units, although the model is said to be replaced soon. Even Nissan Z seems more stable, with a total of 665 units sold throughout the fourth quarter or around 221 units per month.

This condition is actually not entirely surprising, as reported by Carscoops, Tuesday, January 6. Prelude is still in the initial adjustment phase, while some dealers set high selling prices.

On paper, the price tag is also quite heavy, ranging from 42,000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 703 million, not including shipping costs of 1,195 US dollars or Rp. 20 million. This price feels expensive for a hybrid coupe with a power of around 200 hp, especially when compared to the Honda Civic Si which can be redeemed starting at 32,190 US dollars.

Outside of Prelude, Honda actually recorded a number of positive news, the latest generation Passport stands out with a sales surge of up to 69.8 percent throughout the year. Other models such as Prologue EV, Odyssey, and Ridgeline also recorded solid performance with growth ranging from 6.7 percent to 18.7 percent.

However, not all lines are equally fortunate, HR-V sales fell 1.8 percent to 148,771 units. The pilot also fell 12.1 percent, even though the latest model began arriving at dealers.

Honda hinted that this decline was due to production constraints, an excuse that had previously often appeared, even when stocks at dealers were considered adequate. Pressure was also felt in the sedan segment.

Accord sales fell 7.7 percent to a total of 150,196 units last year and Civic was corrected, although it was lighter, down 1.4 percent. Overall, Honda closed the year with relatively flat performance, sales up a slight 0.4 percent to 1,297,144 units.
