JAKARTA - The Indonesian Automotive Journalists Forum (FORWOT) successfully held the annual FORWOT Car of The Year (FCY) 2025 award event, which is one of the best car assessment barometers in Indonesia.

FORWOT Chairman, Arie Prasetya, said that FCY is an event designed to appreciate automotive products that make a real contribution to the development of the industry as well as being relevant to the needs of the domestic market.

"FORWOT Car of The Year is not just an award, but also a reflection of the development of the Indonesian automotive industry. The assessment is carried out objectively and transparently, by considering innovation, safety, performance, and the value received by consumers," said Arie, during the presentation, some time ago.

FCY itself has been held consistently since 2009 and has become a flagship program of FORWOT. There are no restrictions on classes or vehicle segments in the assessment process. All drive technologies, from internal combustion engine vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, to pure electric vehicles, are assessed in the same period for one year of launch.

In the Hybrid/Mild Hybrid category, the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid was selected as the best model because it was judged to be able to present balanced efficiency and technology with consumer needs. Meanwhile, in the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) category, the highest award was won by Chery Tiggo 8 CSH thanks to the combination of performance, efficiency, and features offered.

In the pure electric vehicle segment, the BYD Atto 1 managed to win the title of The Best EV Forwot Car of The Year 2025. This model is considered to reflect the development of electrification technology which is increasingly mature and relevant to conditions and infrastructure in Indonesia.

In addition to the main category, Forwot also gave special awards to a number of automotive industry models and actors. Mazda CX-60 Sport was named the best designed car, Suzuki Fronx won the best value award for consumers, while Xpeng X9 received appreciation for the features that were considered the most prominent.

"We hope that the Forwot Car of the Year can become a credible reference for the public in choosing vehicles, as well as encouraging industry players to continue to innovate and improve the quality of products and services in Indonesia," he concluded.
