JAKARTA Since Xiaomi plunged into the automotive industry, the focus of the manufacturer is clearly only on producing pure electric vehicles like Tesla. But now it looks different. The Chinese technology company revealed a new patent related to the fuel level display system, marking an important step that confirms that Xiaomi is not only focused on pure electric vehicles (EVs).
The brand, known for its smartphone products, is developing technology for fueled and hybrid vehicles. This can be seen from the patent issued on December 5 by China's National Intellectual Property Administration.
Reporting from Carnewschina, Thursday, December 11, the patent is registered in Xiaomi's category of fueled and hybrid vehicle technology. Citing also a report from IT-Home, the submission highlighted the development of software methods to stabilize the reading of fuel levels appearing on the driver's screen.
In the patent document, Xiaomi describes a system that first determines the initial value of the fuel level in the vehicle tank. This value is then compared to actual sensor data.
If there is a difference that exceeds a certain threshold, the system will make two or more gradual adjustments to the performance value. This correction process continues until the difference between the readout of the sensor and the display drops below the predetermined threshold.
Xiaomi stated that the approach would reduce the sudden variation that drivers often experience due to driving, movement of fuel in tanks, or sensor interference.

The patent document also confirms that the method is designed for vehicles with fuel storage, making it more relevant to Xiaomi's extended hybrid or range models, not pure electric vehicles. Even so, the patent does not mention which models will adopt this technology.
In addition, Xiaomi also publishes a number of other patents related to vehicle control and battery development, ranging from drift control systems, vehicle control functions, to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) material manufacturing methods. The documents are still general and have not been directed to specific models.
Meanwhile, China's automotive media report states that Xiaomi is preparing three new models. First, a large three-line SUV called YU9, which is more than 5,200 mm long and equipped with lidar and rear wheel steering.
Then, the revised version of YU7 is expected to get hardware and software updates, including a possible long-wheelbase variant for a more spacious back cabin room. Finally, the YU7 GT which is described as a performance version with more than 1,000 hp power through a dual motorcycle configuration.
