Having A Production Capacity Of 300,000 Units Per Year, BYD Factory In Hungary Ready To Operate

JAKARTA - BYD plans to build strong businesses in various countries, including in Hungary. The brand will build a plant that was planned to start in 2023.

Now, the factory is ready to enter production trials. Based on a report from Carnewschina, quoted on Wednesday, December 10, the first batch of BYD production line equipment arrived at Szeged.

Menurut informasi terbaru, pabrik lokal akan memulai uji coba produksi pada kuartal pertama tahun 2026. Produksi massal akan dimulai pada kuartal kedua di tahun yang sama.

Earlier, BYD officials claimed that production at the Hungarian plant was scheduled to begin by the end of 2025. However, a Reuters report previously indicated BYD would delay the factory launch until 2026.

The Dolphin Mini electric hatchback will be the first BYD model to be assembled at a factory in Szeged. Later, other models such as Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, and Seal U will join.

Interestingly, this factory is targeted to have a maximum capacity of 300,000 units per year. Of course, the figure is quite large, but it can help manufacturers to continue to innovate by presenting local production vehicles.

Mass production in Hungary will allow BYD to avoid additional rates imposed by the European Union. The company from Shenzhen faces an additional tariff of 17 percent above existing import duties of 10 percent.

BYD also has a long plan in Indonesia by setting up a large factory. The plan is that the factory, which is located in the Subang Smartpolitan Industrial Estate, West Java, will start operating earlier this year.
