BYD Opens Voice About Visit To Indonesian Handal Car Factory

JAKARTA BYD Motor Indonesia has finally opened its voice about their team's visit to the Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM) factory. Given that the visit raises several speculations regarding the production of BYD cars in the country.

The visit was previously suspected to be a signal of assembly cooperation with local manufacturers, following BYD's factory in Indonesia which has not yet been fully completed. HMI itself is used to handling several Chinese manufacturers, such as Chery, Neta, to Xpeng.

Head of Public and Government Relations BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, emphasized that the presence of the BYD team at the Handal facility is purely a survey and research, without an agenda for production cooperation.

"So the team from our manufacturing from the headquarter before carrying out the operation kick off in Indonesia, they need to talk about a few things. As I can describe, production processes in Indonesia are indeed production processes," Luther told reporters in the PIK area.

Furthermore, he explained that the BYD principle team came to study various technical aspects in the country's automotive industry, starting from the production process to quality control standards. This is to maintain the quality standards of the cars.

"Then QC level. Then there are many other things that are R&D. At that time, one of the references was that we happened to be good friends with the owner of the facility. We conducted a survey, research to the facility," he said, quoted Monday, November 24.

"Well, this is for once again in order to maintain consistency, quality later when our facility production is already running. That's actually the reason," said Luther.

He also emphasized that BYD did not have a plan to use Handal facilities as a production site or assembly of their vehicles. On the other hand, BYD claims to have built a production facility worth IDR 11.2 trillion in Subang, West Java, which is said to be starting operations in the first quarter of next year.

"We are optimizing the facilities we have," concluded Luther.
