Sustainable Commitment, BYD Encourages Conservation Of Nature With Thousands Of EV Users

JAKARTA BYD Motors Indonesia is increasingly establishing its position as a producer who is serious about maintaining environmental sustainability. Not only presents electric vehicle lines to reduce pollution emissions, BYD also applies concrete steps through natural conservation.

In this case, BYD also cooperates with Beyond Community, which is a community of BYD Seal car users, Dolphin, to Atto 1. Where, planting 500 mangrove seeds in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, North Jakarta.

"The 500 mangroves that we planted together today are not just numbers, but rather a reflection of 500 people who realize that big changes are born from simple steps to do together," said President Director of BYD Motor Indonesia Eagle Zhao, Sunday, November 23.

"This initiative reminds us that the journey towards a greener future can actually start from one joint step like today," he continued.

Eagle explained that mangroves were chosen because they had a vital role in protecting the coastline from abrasion, becoming a very effective natural carbon absorber, as well as an important habitat for biodiversity. Not only has an impact on coastal areas, this action also provides long-term benefits in efforts to control climate change.

"From this activity, we find that technology and nature are not two things that go in a different direction," continued Eagle.

Through this conservation program, BYD seeks to make a real contribution to reducing carbon emissions. Based on estimates, mangroves grown in the PIK area have the potential to absorb around 10,000 kilograms or 10 tons of CO2 per year, thus providing a sustainable impact on the environment.

This activity is also part of BYD's commitment to strengthening the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, as well as to coincide with the World Tree Day commemoration which falls on November 21.

To ensure the sustainability of the program, BYD cooperates with BenihBaik as the implementing partner who handles planting, location selection, maintenance, and monitoring. Through the Treecode digital system, participants can monitor the development of mangroves that they plant directly.

"Sufficiency can only survive if it is built in an interconnected ecosystem," said BenihBaik Chief of Partnership Al Greeny Dewayanti.

On the other hand, the CSR program is also a moment of celebrating the first anniversary of Beyond Community. As of November 17, 2025, Beyond recorded 2,050 members spread throughout Indonesia, dominated by DKI Jakarta, Banten, and West Java.

This community has also grown to various other islands such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali, Sulawesi, to Papua. The presence of this community is considered important in encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles through education and sharing real experiences on various occasions, ranging from automotive exhibitions, campus programs, to event test drives.
