Honda Withdraws More Than 256 Thousand Hybrid Accords Due To Risk Of Power Loss

JAKARTA Honda recalled or withdrew the Hybrid Accord for the 2023 '2025 model due to the potential for loss of power while the vehicle was running. In total there are 256,603 units affected by the recall program in this American region.

In a document submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it is stated that this problem stems from a software error on the Integrated Control Module (ICM). The system can detect the disturbance incorrectly and reset, so that the engine can suddenly disappear.

Honda said that only about 0.3 percent of the total units were expected to experience disruptions, reported by Caranddriver, Thursday, November 20. Even so, the company continues to make withdrawals to ensure all vehicles are safe for use.

This software error is known to arise due to imperfect communication with component suppliers, who do not fully understand the CPU specifications of the ICM module. This condition makes the system read the existence of abnormality' incorrectly, then triggers a sudden reset.

As a repair measure, Honda has prepared a software update on the ICM and has started implementing it in the latest production line. Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by dealers to reprogram for free.

Official notices to owners are scheduled to begin shipping in early 2026. Owners who feel their cars are included in the recall list can check through the official channel belonging to the local vehicle safety authority.
