After Announcing Its Affordable Price, the Jaecoo J5 EV Is Claimed to be a Target at Dealerships.

JAKARTA - After launching the official price for its first electric SUV, the J5, at a rather impressive price, Jaecoo's dealer network is now being flocked by potential customers.

Jaecoo is pricing the Standard variant at IDR 249.9 million, while the Premium variant is priced at IDR 299.9 million. These prices are for 1,000 customers only, and prices after that number have not been disclosed.

Jaecoo Indonesia Country Director Max Zhou stated that the Jaecoo J5 EV, as the real SUV, not only offers modern mobility.

"It also introduces an iconic electric SUV that combines a strong and elegant design with reliable performance," he said in a statement on Thursday, November 6.

Since the price announcement, Jaecoo claims that various authorized Jaecoo dealerships in Indonesia have been bustling with visitors coming to see the vehicle in person, test drive it, and even place orders for the J5 EV.

In Jakarta, the increase in visits has been observed since the evening after the price announcement, while in other cities such as Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, Batam, and Malang, similar activity has been lively.

At several Jaecoo dealerships, including those in Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Malang, many prospective customers immediately took test drives and placed orders after experiencing the performance and comfort of this electric SUV. This positive response reinforces Jaecoo's belief that the J5 EV is a new choice for consumers seeking an electric vehicle with true SUV character.

Looking at the specifications again

From the exterior, both cars appear similar, with LED lights and the Active Grill Shutter (AGS) feature that opens and closes automatically to adjust airflow. This feature improves aerodynamic efficiency while extending driving range. However, the Standard variant lacks a panoramic sunroof, while the Premium variant does, creating a more spacious and luxurious cabin.

Interior-wise, the Premium variant features a 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen, while the Standard variant uses a 9-inch display with physical buttons. The seat materials also differ, with the Standard variant using fabric and the Premium variant using leather. Additional features such as auto-dimming mirrors, ventilated seats, electric seats, and driving modes are also available only on the Premium variant.

In terms of performance, both models share the same technical specifications. The J5 EV is equipped with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) electric motor with 207 hp and 288 Nm of peak torque. The battery capacity is also identical, at 60.9 kWh, offering a balance between efficiency and practicality. Both the Premium and Standard variants have a range of up to 461 km (NEDC) on a single charge. 130 kW fast charging technology allows charging from 30–80 percent in just 28 minutes.
