JAKARTA - Kia made history by setting new global standards for the first PV5 Cargo model, Kia's first electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV) and part of the innovative product line of the Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV).

The model won the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM award with the furthest distance achieved by a light battery powered electric van with a maximum charge of 693.38 km (430.84 miles).

The PV5 Cargo Long Range 4-door variant, equipped with a 71.2 kWh battery, was used in a trial with a maximum allowed charge of 665 kg. The model covered a distance of 693.38 km in one charge, setting new standards in terms of efficiency and durability in the eLCV segment. The test that broke this record was carried out on September 30, 2025 under real conditions on public roads north of Frankfurt, Germany.

Kia Corporation President and CEO Ho Sung Song, said the Guinness World Record achieved by PV5 Cargo was a milestone that reflected Kia's vision of creating mobility solutions that were more than just transportation.

"This extraordinary achievement proves that our Platform Beyond Vehicle is not only innovative in concepts, but also practical and efficient in the real world," he said, in his official statement received on Thursday, October 30.

The test route is carefully designed to mimic the daily reality of shipping and logistics operations. During the 58.2 km urban and non-city ring routes, PV5 Cargo faces traffic lights, intersections, roundabouts, and urban traffic that reflect the conditions most fleet drivers face on a daily basis.

In addition, the van repeatedly beat the incline with a height of up to 370 m, completed a 12-time ring route while carrying the full payload, and finally stopped at the 12th round. This challenging condition highlights the efficiency and extraordinary reliability of PV5 Cargo, making it a superior partner for sustainable urban mobility.

As the first model in the family of PBV Kia, PV5 was built on the basis of the Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service (E-GMP.S) architecture which is innovative and designed with the modular concept of building block. This flexibility allows for a wide range of configurations, namely Cargo, Passenger, Chassis Cab, and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle to meet various commercial and personal needs.

The PV5 Cargo variant offers a fairly wide payload space with a load capacity of up to 790 kg. There are several battery options, namely 51.5 kWh, 71.2 kWh, and upcoming options: 43.3 kWh, which are tailored to their operational needs.

Executive Vice President and Head of PBV Division at Kia Corporation Sangdae Kim, said this record shows the extraordinary efficiency and reliability of PV5.

"By combining remote range capabilities with real-world practicality, Kia PBV is designed to empower businesses and individuals with smarter and more sustainable mobility solutions so that it can increase their daily productivity," he said.
