The Lesu Car Market, Toyota Innova Remains Undeniable At The Top Of Sales

Toyota has again shown its dominance in the national automotive market through the mainstay duo of Kijang Innova Reborn and Zenix. This legendary family car again topped the list of the best-selling vehicles in September 2025 with distribution to dealers reaching 6,143 units.

This achievement places Innova far behind its competitors in the list of 10 best-selling cars in Indonesia. This is based on data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), quoted on Saturday, October 18.

In second place is Daihatsu Gran Max, with 3,932 units distributed successfully. Behind him, Toyota Avanza occupies the third position with 2,804 units. The next two positions are occupied by Suzuki Carry and Toyota Calya with 2,628 units and 2,523 units, respectively.

It didn't stop there, the Toyota Rush still showed its maintenance in the sixth position, followed by Honda Brio and Mitsubishi Destinations. While the bottom two positions in the list of the top 10 were filled by Daihatsu Gran Max (minibus and blind van) and LCGC three rows of Daihatsu Sigra, each of which recorded 1,918 units and 1,738 units.

Although the best-selling model performance is still maintained, the country's automotive market has slowed slightly. Retail sales or went directly to consumers in September 2025 fell 4.2 percent to 63,723 units, compared to August which reached 66,518 units. Whereas in August it had grown 5.7 percent from July's achievement of 62,922 units.

Unlike retail sales, shipments from manufacturers to dealers, aka wholesales, actually rose slightly by 0.5 percent to 62,071 units from 61,777 units in the previous month. However, when compared to last year, the market fell quite sharply. Retail sales fell 12.2 percent compared to September 2024, while wholesales fell 15.1 percent.

Cumulatively, from January to September 2025, national retail sales fell 10.9 percent to 585,917 units. Meanwhile, wholesales also fell 11.3 percent to 561,819 units compared to the same period last year.
