A Month Stopped Due To Cyber Attacks, JLR Will Continue Production

JAKARTA - A month more than Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) was hit by a detrimental thing when cyber attacks forced manufacturers to carry out global closures of all factories. In fact, the impact is very broad including losses estimated at 5 million euros per day equivalent to IDR 96.4 billion.

However, things seem to be getting better. According to a report from Drive, quoted on Tuesday, October 7, JLR will continue production after being suspended for a month.

In a statement, the automaker said it started repeating it gradually, and some parts of its manufacturing will resume in the coming days.

Meanwhile, according to a BBC report, JLR will continue its first manufacturing in Wolverhampton, England.

"As our operational recovery continues in stages and under control, we are taking further steps towards recovery and returning to producing our world-class vehicles," wrote JRL on the manufacturer's website, quoted by VOI today.

The UK government's full support

Seeing the wider potential impact, the British government is moving fast. The Minister of State for Business and Trade, Peter Kyle, together with Industry Minister Chris McDonald, have visited JLR facilities to discuss production restart measures and supply chain rescue strategies.

"We have two priorities to help Jaguar Land Rover return to operation as soon as possible, and maintain long-term health supply chains," McDonald said.

There are two support options from the local government that are being considered. Starting from purchasing components to helping cash flow to JLR is fully produced again.

In addition, there are also loans guaranteed by the government, although this idea is said to be less attractive to some suppliers.

Cyber Attack

Published September 11, the event had serious impacts and even paralyzed JLR operations globally and stopped production of Land Rover cars since then. In an official statement released on the manufacturer's website on September 10, JLR said they had been working with the police and cybersecurity experts to restore their internal systems.

The company will contact parties whose data is affected, indicating that the data may be linked to customers and potentially stolen.
