JAKARTA The onslaught of electric cars from various brands continues to enliven the Indonesian automotive market. Especially from Chinese manufacturers who are aggressive in presenting models with advanced technology at relatively affordable prices.

However, in the midst of the trend of pure electric vehicle (BEV), consumer interest in conventional engine cars (ICE) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is still relatively high. One of the reasons is the stable resale value.

Based on OLXmobbi data as the official trade-in partner of GIIAS 2025, it is clear that the difference in the level of depreciation between the three segments of the vehicle is clear. ICE and HEV cars on average only decreased by a price of 10'15 percent per year. On the other hand, BEV electric cars can experience a depreciation of up to 35'60 percent per year.

This phenomenon confirms that even though the BEV is predicted to be the future of automotive, the biggest challenge lies in the resale value, which is still far behind. One of the reasons is the rapid emergence of new models with more advanced features and more competitive prices. On the other hand, access to financing for used electric cars is also very limited due to the lack of financial institutions that are willing to finance it.

Interestingly, during GIIAS 2025, OLXmobbi recorded a significant spike in trading-in activity. The number of customers exchanging old cars for new units rose 53 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, the number of car sellers on the OLXmobbi platform grew 47 percent.

OLXmobbi Director, Agung Iskandar, emphasized the importance of maintaining standard car quality that enters the platform.

At GIIAS 2025, customers' cars that are sold or exchanged through OLXmobbi are still in very good condition. We apply special standards, including ensuring that cars are free from flood history, so that consumers get used-quality cars. With this year's better achievements, we are optimistic that we can continue to contribute to driving the wheels of the national automotive business," Agung explained, through his official statement, Tuesday, September 30.

In terms of transaction value, the average price of the car absorbed by OLXmobbi during GIIAS 2025 is in the range of IDR 150 million. The highest price car comes from the HEV category which reaches IDR 300 million, while the average absorbed BEV electric car is only IDR 115 million.

Then, the car most sold by visitors at GIIAS 2025 also shows a similar trend. In the ICE category, Toyota Kijang Innova and Avanza dominate. For HEV, Toyota Yaris Cross is quite a lot released.
