BYD Sets Record, Production Of 1,000th Electric Buses In Europe

JAKARTA BYD is again making history in Europe. The manufacturer of electric vehicles from China officially celebrated the production of the 1,000th electric bus from their assembly line in Hungary on September 26.

Citing CnEVpost, Tuesday, September 30, the 1,000th unit is a B12.b model, BYD's flagship electric bus specifically adapted to the German market. The 12-meter long bus adopts Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) technology, which integrates the battery directly into the frame of the vehicle for higher efficiency and security.

It does not stop there, BYD is also expanding its factory facilities in Hungary with an additional production area of 29,000 square meters. This step is expected to increase the factory's annual capacity to more than 1,000 units of buses and electric trucks.

For more than a decade, BYD's electric buses have served public transportation in Europe, covering 160 cities in 26 countries. Cumulatively, BYD's fleet has covered more than 645 million kilometers. In addition to bus facilities, BYD is also building a passenger vehicle factory in Hungary to strengthen its position in the European market.

BYD's Traces In Indonesia

BYD is not a new player in Indonesia. Their electric bus was already present in Jakarta as part of the Transjakarta fleet. A total of 30 units of BYD K9 low deck buses have been operating on four Transjakarta routes since several years ago.

This 12-meter-long environmentally friendly bus can accommodate up to 60 passengers. Equipped with a battery with a capacity of 324 kWh, K9 is able to cover a distance of up to 250 km per day, with an average energy consumption of 1.3 kWh per km.

BYD's presence in Indonesia is proof that electric transportation technology is increasingly real and ready to be a solution for zero-emission urban mobility.
