JAKARTA - Tesla continues to develop its business to fulfill its ambition to produce 20 million electric cars in one year. Including planning to open a new R&D center in Berlin Germany next year.

Based on a report from ArenaEV, quoted on Sunday, September 7, Tesla reportedly recruited up to 250 engineers and technicians who will work there in the development of new models, batteries, and charging infrastructure.

Initially, 130 engineers would occupy the center, having previously worked in another smaller location. Tesla wants to invest a high double-digit million euros into the R&D center.

The move was announced by Lars Moravy, Vice President and Head of Tesla Developers, at a press conference. But he did not elaborate on the details above.

Including, the exact location of the future R&D center has not been disclosed by the company, but will use a factory currently empty near its Gigafactory in Berlin.

The development center project was first discussed when Tesla announced the construction of Berlin's Gigafactory in November 2019, and now the company is finally close to making it happen.

As is known, citing from the Tesla Business Insider page, there are already six giant factories around the world where Tesla builds Model S, Model X, Model Y, and Model 3, and Cybertruck vehicles. The seventh factory, Tesla's first factory in Mexico, is also under construction, and is likely to increase as Tesla's sales volume increases. For Berlin, which opens in 2022, it produces battery cells and has a capacity of more than 375,000 Y models per year.
